Our rice milling facility is free from the top 9 US allergens.  Rice is naturally gluten-free and vegan.  Our rice is certified OU Kosher.

Brown rice and white rice come from the same plant.  When rice is milled you remove the husk first and produce brown rice (the brown color is the bran).  For white rice we then polish the bran off with additional equipment and thus produce white rice.

Yes - every kernel of rice in every bag of our product was grown by us on our family farm right here in the United States of America - you can truly know where your rice comes from when you buy Castor River Habitat & Farm.

Yes - our rice is verified as non–GMO by the Non-GMO Project.

No, our rice is grown using regenerative farming methods that we have developed over the last decade that builds the biological biome of our soil.

Our farm is located in the Delta Region of Southeast Missouri.

At this time, we do not have tours available but stay tuned for some exciting opportunities to come and see our habitat and farm in person!

  • Rinse Thoroughly - It’s important to remember that rinsing rice can help remove any excess starch. Some chefs even soak their rice for a period of time and then rinse thoroughly before cooking.

  • Reduce Water - We typically use 1.5 cups of water for every 1 cup of riceSome people prefer broth over water, others use rice cookers instead of a pot. We want you to do it YOUR way but there may be small changes needed in the kitchen vs. cooking the “other rice”.

  • Let It Be - If we dug up our rice every few minutes to see how it was doing, we would never get our best rice crop. Constant stirring disrupts the cooking process and can alter the outcome. Don’t forget that a fork is usually the best utensil for serving!

With proper storage, our rice will have a 1-year shelf life.

Store in a cool, dry place away from any potential pests.  You can store it in the refrigerator or freezer as well.

Yes, we undergo yearly audits for both our farm and facility, both are in good standing.

Yes, we are certified through Regeified and are the only Tier 3 supplier on the market.

Yes, we engage independent laboratories to verify our rice maintains industry leading LOW levels of arsenic.
